We are thrilled to announce the successful commissioning of our new Main Building Complex, which took place on Monday, March 24, 2025. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in our Centre’s commitment to providing an exceptional learning and working environment for our students, faculty, and staff. The new complex has state-of-the-art facilities, including modern furniture, lecture rooms, advanced conference rooms, laboratories, and fully functional offices designed to foster collaboration and innovation. This investment underscores our dedication to enhancing the educational experience and supporting the diverse needs of our academic community.

Commissioning Ceremony

The commissioning ceremony was officiated by our esteemed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nnenna Oti, who emphasised the importance of this new facility in advancing our Centre’s mission. In her address, she highlighted the role of modern infrastructure in facilitating academic excellence and research initiatives. Moreover, Dr Joshua Attah, the NUC National Coordinator for SPESSE Project, represented by Mr. Tobrise Peter, commended the CE-sPESS Team under Engr. Prof. G.A. Chukwudebe’s leadership for their impressive achievements since its inception. He encouraged the CE-sPESS team to maintain their momentum and assured them of the NUC’s continued support. The Centre Leader, Prof Chukwudebe, in turn appreciated the World Bank, NUC and the University management for their support and thanked everyone who contributed to the realisation of the project.

Community Engagement

The event was well attended by key members of our community, including Deputy Vice-Chancellors (DVCs), the University Librarian, Deans of Schools, Directors, and faculty members. Their presence at the ceremony reflects the collaborative spirit that drives our Centre forward. In addition to the building itself, the commissioning event also featured the unveiling of a new bus and power-generating set, further enhancing our operational capabilities. These additions will ensure that our students and staff have reliable transportation and power supply, contributing to a seamless educational experience.

Looking Ahead

As we embark on this exciting journey in our new Main Building Complex, we look forward to the many opportunities it will create for learning, research, and community engagement. We invite everyone to explore the new facilities and take advantage of the resources available to support their academic and professional endeavours.

Thank you for being part of this momentous occasion. Together, we will continue to build a vibrant and dynamic Centre that fosters growth and innovation.
