Biography

Professor Jude-Anthony Nnama Ogbulie was born on June 13, 1965, in Dimagu Isiekenesi Ideato South, Imo State, Nigeria. He began his primary education at St. Phillips Primary School in Dimagu, earning his First School Leaving Certificate in 1977. He continued his studies at Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary in Ihiala, Anambra State, and National Secondary School Ntueke, Ideato, where he completed his West African School Certificate Examination in 1984. He then attended the University of Port Harcourt, graduating in 1988 with a Second Class Honours degree in Microbiology.

After completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1989, he pursued a Master of Science in Industrial Microbiology at the University of Port Harcourt. Under the guidance of the late Prof. C. Ofuya and Dr. H. O. Njoku, he completed his thesis and graduated as the overall best MSc student in the Faculty of Sciences in 1990. This accomplishment earned him the prestigious University of Port Harcourt Postgraduate Scholarship, allowing him to enroll in a doctoral program in Environmental Microbiology, which he completed in 1995, specializing in Environmental Biotechnology and Public Microbiology.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Professor Ogbulie began his academic career in 1992 as an Assistant Lecturer at Imo State University, Owerri. He later transferred to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), where he ascended through the ranks to become a Professor in 2007. Throughout his career, he has significantly contributed to university administration, serving in various capacities including course adviser, Dean of Student Affairs, and currently as the Dean of the School of Biological Sciences. A recognized expert in Environmental Consulting, Professor Ogbulie has rendered services to numerous corporate bodies and government agencies. His research focuses on the microbial ecology of aquaculture systems, particularly concerning Clarias and Tilapia culture systems. He has published extensively, with 84 journal articles, 13 book chapters, 4 books, and 8 reports to his credit. He has also led several Environmental Management projects and received accolades as one of the most outstanding alumni of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences at the University of Port Harcourt.

Professional Affiliations and Honors

Professor Ogbulie is an active member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the NSM Journal and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Biotechnological Society of Nigeria (BSN), the Institute of Safety Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), and the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN). He has been honored with a Fellow Award from both the Nigerian Environmental Society and the Nigerian Society for Microbiology.

PERSONAL LIFE

Professor Jude-Anthony Nnama Ogbulie is married to Dr. Toochi Ogbulie, and they have five children. He is well-respected in his community, known for his commitment to education and environmental sustainability, and continues to inspire future generations through his work and dedication to academia.
