Biography

Prof. Benedicta Uchenna Dike was born on May 29, 1972, in Nigeria. She pursued her education with dedication, earning her Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, from 1989 to 1996. She continued her academic journey at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), where she obtained a Master of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering from 1998 to 2001. Her pursuit of knowledge culminated in a Ph.D. in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, completed between 2002 and 2007.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Prof. Benedicta Uchenna Dike has built a robust career in academia and consultancy, specializing in water resources and environmental engineering. She currently serves as a Professor of Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, where she has been a member of the Civil Engineering Department since July 2016. In her current role, she also lectures at the Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC), training short course participants and postgraduate diploma students.

Her previous experience includes a tenure as Managing Director of FUTO Consult Ltd and FUTO Press Ltd, where she oversaw consultancy services, contracts, and training from July 2011 to March 2019. Additionally, she held the position of Head of the Civil Engineering Department at FUTO from 2014 to 2016, where she managed student and staff administration and led teaching and research initiatives. Earlier in her career, from 2001 to 2014, she worked as a Lecturer at FUTO, focusing on teaching, research, and community development.

Prof. Benedicta has gained practical experience in procurement through her involvement with the University Tenders Board at FUTO, where she participated in bid openings. Her extensive background in managing bids and contracts has made her well-versed in procurement processes.

Membership in Professional Associations

Prof. Benedicta is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria. She is also a registered engineer with COREN and a member of the International Water Association and the Society of Women Engineers in the USA.

Prof. Benedicta has contributed significantly to academic literature, with numerous publications focusing on water resources, environmental engineering, and soil contamination. Some notable publications include:
